Final reminder! Learn more about the East Martin Way Gateway Project and take our survey to share your thoughts.

The Martin Way and Meridian Road/Duterrow Road intersection is proposed for improvements to address operational challenges, enhance safety and traffic flow, and add a bus turnaround that would restore two-way bus service and support future high-frequency transit.

To learn more about the reasons behind this project, traffic data, safety and cost information, and more, visit our Story Map at https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/32d99b06e2e7479f927691642006d957. Our survey is also available on our Story Map.

What is an interline? Once a bus reaches the end of its route, instead of turning around and driving in a loop, it continues on as another route. For example, when a westbound 9X bus arrives at Capital Mall, the same bus will continue on (interline) as either a 34 or 35, allowing for one-seat rides from downtown Olympia to many parts of west Olympia. Often, trip planning apps like Google Maps will include a note to “remain on board” for interlined routes.

Several of our new routes are interlined, offering one-seat rides to many destinations without the need for additional transfers. If you have any questions about trip planning or interlines, don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service team at 360-786-1881 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Happy birthday to the 25 new routes that launched in our updated transit system today! While today is the culmination of years of work, we know rolling out such a large system redesign is very stressful for the community. They are available at 360-786-1881 or you can stop by Customer Service in the Olympia Transit Center.

More mythbusting from Intercity Transit! Here are some common misconceptions and the context behind them—and don't forget, the May 3 service change is this Sunday! You can learn more at intercitytransit.com/redesign or use your favorite trip planning tool (e.g. Google Maps, the Transit app) to plan trips dated May 3 or later to see your new route options. Our Customer Service team is also offering extended hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 4-8 (regular hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily) to offer additional help as the new routes roll out. Myth #1: “Intercity Transit’s Board is only elected officials and executives.”
Intercity Transit was actually the first in the state to include community members on our Board, and we are currently the only transit system with a Community Advisory Committee, made up entirely of community members.

Myth #2: “Intercity Transit staff don’t ride the buses.”
Many of our staff use our buses regularly, including our General Manager. And don’t forget the lifeblood of Intercity Transit—our Operators, who are on the road every day!

Myth #3: “The public’s comments are just sorted and left unread.”
Every single comment sent to Intercity Transit is read by a real human being, and our own Director of Planning reads every comment relating to our bus system personally!
