Not every operation needs the same truck. And the fleets that perform best are often the ones that invest time in getting the specification right. Cloete’s Sand and Stone operates in a range of environments, from urban construction sites to quarry operations. As a result, they continuously test different horsepower ratings and configurations to improve fuel efficiency and engine life. According to Wesley Cloete: “We’re constantly trying different specifications to see where we can improve fuel efficiency or extend engine life.” Working closely with OEMs to tailor vehicle specifications allows operators to match trucks to real operating conditions. Because the right specification can improve performance long before the first load is moved.
