EV Sales in Europe are up 26% in Q1 2026, and the shift is accelerating ⚡
After a record-breaking 2025, Europe’s EV market is not slowing down. In Q1 2026 alone, over 723,000 new battery-electric vehicles were registered across 31 markets, pushing EV market share to 20.6%. That means every fifth car sold in Europe today is fully electric, with BEVs rapidly closing the gap to petrol and firmly ahead of diesel.
What’s driving this growth? The “big three”: Germany, the UK, and France, account for 56.6% of all EV sales; with France standing out thanks to a +50,4% jump in adoption. At the same time, countries like Denmark (80%), Norway (97.9%), and Finland (46.9%) are reaching record-breaking market shares, while emerging markets such as Poland (+73.1% YoY), Slovenia (+78.2%) and Croatia (+282.4%) are accelerating at impressive rates.
