Beginning in 2027, the EPA will roll out significant updates to heavy-duty truck emissions standards. These new rules require engines to cut nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by more than 80% — meaning real changes to how trucks are built, priced, and serviced.
For fleets and owner-operators driving Freightliner and Western Star units, these regulations will introduce next-generation engine technology, updated emissions systems, and new electrical architecture that touches everything from spec'ing decisions today to maintenance planning tomorrow.
