JR's Freigth Services, Inc. is our Stayton, Oregon-based, full-service trucking company and freight brokerage operating in 48 states. Founded in 1991, we are a premier flatbed carrier, providing secure transportation for freight, with capabilities for specialized loads, using our own fleet of trucks and trailers, while also providing logistics, freight brokerage, and on-site diesel truck repair services. Our lodge-like office building creates a cozy atmosphere for our office staff. It sits on a 6-acre facility, which includes ample, gated and secured parking for our fleet of trucks and trailers, paid parking customers, as well as our 10,000 sq. ft full-service diesel truck and trailer repair shop (AWI DIESEL TRUCK REPAIR) that not only maintains our equipment, but is open to the public as well, and has a large following of dedicated customers.
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Truck Dispatcher to join our team. This role is vital in coordinating and managing the schedules of our fleet of trucks, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries. You will be responsible for communicating with drivers, logistic coordinators, customers, and other carriers to ensure a smooth and effective transportation process.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and assign loads to drivers, considering factors such as delivery deadlines, route optimization, and driver availability.
• Monitor driver progress and provide real-time updates on route changes, delays, or other issues.
• Tracking and ensuring profitability for the fleet, and company, with provided spreadsheets.
• Tracking and overseeing the service, repair, and maintenance needs of all company tractors and trailers, and scheduling accordingly with our repair shop.
• Keep in close communication with drivers throughout the day, and update customers, and logistic coordinators as needed to resolve issues and ensure making scheduled deliveries on time.
• Maintain accurate records of all loads, drivers, and related activities.
• Prospecting for new customers and freight that matches our company’s needs.
• Collaborate with sales staff/logistics coordinators, and customer service, to address customer needs and expectations.
• Stay informed, and updated on industry regulations and best practices, and helping to ensure our compliance requirements are met.
• Performing driver reviews, disciplinary actions if needed, as well as maintaining our “Driver Incentive Program”. (All information and spreadsheets will be provided.)
• Driver recruiting. Review and screen potential drivers and assist in pre- and post-employment processes.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of driving and flatbed experience and having a current CDL is preferred.
• Strong phone, computer, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate with drivers, customers and sales staff.
• Knowledge of trucking operations and industry regulations.
• Experience with dispatch software and related systems.
• Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
