This is the announcement letter. This letter should be sent to every member of Congress, every Governor, every State Rep, and every newspaper or news media outlet. This letter should be sent to every trucking media outlet and your employer.

To whom it may concern,
The truck drivers of the United States of America have made every effort to voice their concerns to the members of Congress, the media, and the American people. We know the truth behind the mandate for the use of electronic logging devices and it has nothing to do with creating safer travel conditions on our roads or saving 26 lives a year.
The regulations that require every truck to install and use these electronic logging devices (control devices) are meant to create a business environment to force small independent carriers and owner-operators into contracting with the large, domineering, trucking companies. This will give the large carriers the ability to profit from the work of the small independent carriers and owner-operators. As a result, this will limit the small carriers and owner-operators from growing and being competitive in the marketplace, as well as, limiting the company drivers from having the ability to grow into business owners.
The truck drivers of the United States have decided that truck driving has become an inadequate profession and we are leaving the industry unless certain circumstances are addressed by our Congress. We want the following changes made.
1) Repeal 49 U.S. Code section 31137 Electronic Logging Devices and Brake Maintenance, and 49 CFR 395 Subpart B Electronic Logging Devices
2) Repeal 49 CFR 395.3 (2) 14-Hour Period
3) Repeal 49 CFR 395.3 (3) (ii) Rest Breaks.
4) Repeal 49 CFR 395 395.11 Supporting Documents.
5) We want a "Committee of Nine". A committee that will be comprised of 2 company drivers, 2 Owner Operators, 2 Small independent company owners, 2 teamsters, and 1 person from the Owner-Operators Independent Drivers Association. This committee will be an advisory committee to the FMCSA and the Senate and House committees that oversee the FMCSA. All future legislation shall go through this committee for advisory and this committee will report all future legislative actions to the trucking industries population.
6) We want an opportunity to be heard in all public listening sessions that the FMCSA may hold. That means that listening sessions shall be held in such a manner and place that will be accessible for those that are truck drivers and may need accommodations for parking of large commercial motor vehicles.
Regrettably, the truck drivers of the United States of America must resort to this action. We have made every attempt to appeal to the Supreme Court. We have made every attempt to appeal to our members of Congress. We have made every attempt to appeal to the White House. We have made every attempt to reach the American people through the media. We have found that our government officials would rather favor large commercial entities in an endeavor for crony capitalism over the common sense solutions that we have been attempting to offer. We did not easily arrive at this decision, but we can no longer tolerate unrealistic regulations that, unjustifiably, violates our Constitution Rights.
