A few fun facts for first-time Alaska cruisers:

• The ship carries around 2,100 passengers, making it smaller and easier to navigate compared to some mega ships
• In Seattle, Carnival Spirit docks at Pier 91 (Smith Cove Cruise Terminal)
• Alaska itineraries usually include ports like Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and scenic glacier cruising
• One thing many travelers like about Carnival Spirit is the relaxed atmosphere and panoramic ocean views throughout the ship

Seattle tip for embarkation day:
Traffic around Pier 91 can get VERY busy during Alaska cruise season, especially on weekends. Arriving with pre-arranged transportation can save a lot of stress compared to waiting for rideshares.

A couple days ago I had a family in town before their Alaska cruise… they told me:
“We only have a few hours… we just want to see the real Seattle.”

So we hit the road.

Started with that classic skyline view at Kerry Park… Mount Rainier out, blue skies (yes, Seattle does that 😄). Then down through the waterfront and Pike Place… quick stops, no rushing.

We made our way to the Ballard Locks—and that’s always a highlight.

Right there, we spotted gray harbor seals in the water… and even a couple bald eagles nearby. One of those moments that makes Seattle feel wild, not just a city.
After that, we headed east—crossing the lake with incredible views—and made our way to Snoqualmie Falls.

On the way, we slowed down near the fields… and there they were—a small herd of elk just grazing. Totally unplanned, totally unforgettable.

That’s the difference with what we do…
