In 1922 two brothers from WW1 petition the State of Oregon for operating authority. One lived in Silverton, and one lived in Mt Angel. They were granted the authority, and the business began. S&M Truck Line was an agricultural based trucking company.
1982 Jim Lelack bought the company and moved it from Mt Angel to Salem. At that time, hauling for Norpac and United Grocers was a major part of its
business.
1984 Steve Lelack started with the family business. From the ground up, he learned all parts of the transportation business and delivery needs of the grocery industry.
1990 Terri Zollner came to S&M Truck Line from a career in banking. We at S&M Truck Line have been servicing the needs of grocery warehouses as well as the retailers for over 32 years.
2003 Terri and Steve purchased S&M Truck Line from Jim Lelack. At this time the grocery business took off with additional chain stores and warehouses coming on. Today we have over 50 drivers in 5 locations to serve any location in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California. We have over 100 trailers in our fleet, 60 of which are refrigerated trailers. All trailers are equipped with bulk heads to keep temperature controlled load correct. These trailers are 2015 and older 48 ft and 53 ft. We are also a Trusted Carrier of the State of Oregon. Only the safest carriers receive this title. With this, we have transponders in each truck which allows a truck to bypass the scales. We have yards in Salem, Clackamas, Hermiston, Pasco and Olympia, with over 30 shuttles per day &night to the greater Seattle Area. We also service Northern Cal Reno, NV Boise, ID and Spokane, WA all on a daily basis.
