After years of construction, a pair of Route 1 bridges over Route 16 near Milton are expected to be open for travel Wednesday, April 15, as construction of the northbound span has been completed. Delays may occur after 7 p.m., April 14, and throughout the day April 15, as final tie-in work is completed, said Delaware Department of Transportation Director of Community Relations Charles “CR” McLeod. The southbound bridge opened to traffic almost exactly a year ago, April 21.

With the opening of the bridge, a total of 36 signalized intersections between I-95 and Five Points in Lewes have been removed since work began on the first section of the Route 13 Relief Route from Tybouts Corner to Churchmans Road in Christiana in July 1987. The more than $40 million project is expected to be fully completed this summer.

There will be lane restrictions next week on the Norman Wood Bridge, which carries Route 372 across the Susquehanna River between Lancaster County's Martic Township and York County.

‼️🚧👷👷‍♀️ Starting at 7 o'clock tonight, crews will begin to close lanes on the southbound Thruway (I-87/I-287) in Rockland County near exit 15 in Suffern. They are setting up a new traffic pattern to facilitate upcoming work on the bridge over Route 202.

The ramp from I-287 in New Jersey to southbound I-87/I-287 also will be closed 10 PM to 5 AM Wednesday, April 1. Motorists should follow the posted detour to exit 15A to access the southbound Thruway.

In the new traffic pattern, motorists traveling south on the Thruway will encounter a lane split—with two lanes on the right and one lane on the left. Construction on the bridge will take place in between the lanes. Slow down and use caution when traveling through this work zone.

I quoted this job from lower Delaware to just outside of Pittsburgh. 13’6 tall, 14’9 wide. I told the guy to take the pontoons off and haul it on three trucks. He said he wanted to see if he could get it hauled whole… enter this guy… not sure what led up to this, but moving 14’9 wide in the dark (no night moving in DE) I’m sure the wrong permits because it’s pretty heavy. Not sure if the car driver is dead, but definitely badly injured. These guys are ruining our industry and they’re ruining people’s lives along the way.
