I found this picture recently.

This was me on one of my first days at the office.

Back then, I was mostly playing at a desk while my parents built our agency one customer and one truck at a time.

A lot has changed since then.

Today, I'm the one answering the phone, finding trucks, solving problems, and trying to make sure our customers and drivers are both taken care of.

What I'm seeing today is more dedicated freight, more heavy haul, more cold chain opportunities, and more requests for trusted capacity.

The challenge isn't finding freight.

The challenge is finding enough good people to help cover it.

One thing that hasn't changed is how I was taught to do business.

Treat people right.
Answer the phone.
Work hard.
Take care of your customers and drivers.

I'll work just as hard on a one-pallet shipment as I will on a full truckload because every shipment matters.

And if we've worked together before, you know I'd rather call someone I trust than post a load and hope for the best.

Our agency is family owned, and one thing that has always mattered deeply to me is the people behind the wheel. Over the years, I’ve had drivers at our table on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Global events can impact supply chains quickly, especially in international air and ocean freight.

Memorial Day may be over, but for a lot of families, the loss never ends.

This industry is full of veterans, hardworking drivers, and people who spend long hours away from the people they love just trying to provide a life for their families. Yesterday was a reminder that some families never got their person back home at all.

No load, rate, or deadline matters more than that kind of sacrifice.

Grateful for the men and women who gave everything for this country and for the families who continue carrying that weight every day. Thinking about them today and every day after the holiday posts are gone. 🇺🇸

Feels like the transportation world is changing faster every year.

You’ve got autonomous trucks starting to hit real roads in Ohio, new emissions standards coming, electric equipment growing, rail leadership changes, and meanwhile most drivers I talk to are still just trying to deal with fuel prices, parking, reloads, traffic, breakdowns, and getting home on time.

I think a lot of people outside this industry forget how much skill trucking actually takes. Technology can help, sure. But there are so many parts of this job that still come down to human judgment and experience. Especially in specialized freight, weather, job sites, mountains, cities, hazmat, oversize, re**er, secure freight… real life is not always predictable.

The new Volvo engine news is interesting too. Cleaner emissions are important, but I know a lot of fleets and owner operators are also wondering what all this new equipment is going to cost long term and how reliable it’ll be once it’s out here running every day.

And honestly, every time there’s a big change in transportation, drivers are usually the ones expected to adapt first.

No matter how advanced things get, this industry still runs because of people willing to do a hard job that most people couldn’t handle for a week.

National average is sitting at $5.64 with Landstar FSC at $0.75 effective 05/12–05/18.
