Cutting in too close in front of another vehicle is always dangerous, but it’s especially dangerous to “cut off” a truck. If you move in quickly from either side, you’re likely to be in a blind spot so the driver may not see you. Even if you’re visible, the vehicle may not be able to slow quickly enough to avoid a crash because of the amount of time it takes to stop.

Be smart and don’t cut off your bus neighbors on the road. Due to their size, they take longer to stop. If you can’t read their license plates in your rearview mirror, you changed lanes too late.

There were about 475,000 police-reported crashes involving large trucks in 2016. A commercial driver has limited visibility on all sides because of large blind spots around the vehicle. This Thanksgiving, remember to drive safely and stay out of these “No Zones.”
