Today in 1885 Morris “Rosy” Rosenfeld was born! 🎈
Born in Hungary and naturalized in 1904, Rosenfeld became a legend for catching some of the most significant moments on the water. In the early 1900s through the 1970s, he established his reputation as one of America’s most famous yachting photographers. It could not have been easy bouncing on a boat with a heavy camera, changing the glass plates, and finding the right angle for the perfect shot! His black-and-white photography reflects how talented he was not only behind the lens but also in the darkroom. After his passing, The Rosenfeld Collection was acquired in 1984 by Mystic Seaport Museum. This collection is one of the most extensive archives of maritime photography collections in the United States, with close to one million pieces documenting 1881 to 1992. Rosenfeld was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 1995 and the National Sailing Hall of Fame in 2013.

The 2023 US Open Sailing Series begins TOMORROW💥with Ft. Lauderdale (hosted by Lauderdale Yacht Club) and Miami (organized by Miami Yacht Club).

The ILCA 4, 6 and 7, and Nacra 15 will compete out of Lauderdale Yacht Club, while the Mixed 470, 29er, Formula Kite, 49er, 49erFX, and iQFOiL Men & Women will take to the water from the US Sailing Center & Coconut Grove Sailing Club in Miami.
