On behalf of the Ortonville Ambulance Relief Association we want to announce that we now have a second LUCAS! As many of you know, we have been working towards purchasing a second LUCAS for quite some time now. Without the amazing support of our community we would not be making this post right now. Having a second LUCAS is something that many rural services do not have the opportunity to experience. We are extremely lucky and grateful for the amazing community that we have. We cannot begin to express our gratitude for your support!

With that being said, attached are some photos of the new LUCAS. We also attached photos of the device placed on a staff member to provide a visual representation of how the LUCAS would be placed on a person in time of need. This device is lifesaving and will continue to allow our service to provide the best care possible for each and every one of you. Again, we want to thank our community for the amazing support we have received.

Local EMT recognized for 30 years of Service


Scott Huizenga, an EMT with Ortonville Ambulance Service was recently recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for achieving 30 consecutive years of National EMS certification. This distinction is an honor held by few EMS Professionals.

To maintain his status as a Nationally Registered EMT, Huizenga completed, on a biennial basis, the most comprehensive recertification program for EMS professionals in America.

By maintaining his National EMS Certification and completing regular continuing education courses, Huizenga has demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional prehospital emergency medical care.

Huizenga was Nationally Registered as an EMT in 1995 and has ben serving the Ortonville community since that time.

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians serves as the National EMS Certification organization by providing a valid, uniform process to assess the knowledge and skills required to competent practice by EMS professionals throughout their careers and by maintaining a registry of certification status.

Another incredibly successful Ortonville Ambulance Relief Association Pancake Breakfast!! We are so grateful to our community and their unwavering support!!! We served 500 breakfasts this morning and enjoyed sharing our beautiful new station with everyone that came to visit!! Thank you all for making time on a busy Sunday to stop by and show your support!

Thank you so much to our special guests that were able to make it to our sneak peak open house tonight and the Big Stone Lake Area Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon cutting! We look forward to welcoming the public Sunday 4/27 8am-1pm for our Annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House!!!
