As our Underwriting Lead, Alexia is responsible for reviewing applications and working with our customers to help them get setup with iThrive's services. This means staying on top of changing laws, regulations, and our own internal policies. Not only does Alexia manage all of that, but she makes it look easy! 💪

Securing your load is not a one-time pre-trip task. Tiedowns can loosen once you've been on the road, leaving you prone to damages and claims.

Here are some best practices from the FMCSA to help keep you and your load safe.

✅ Check within the first 50 miles
✅ Check every 3 hours or 150 miles
✅ Check after every duty status change

These small practices can help save you big when it comes to load damages, insurance claims, and safety scores.

Freight fraud has become more sophisticated and these criminals can impersonate legitimate companies to make fake loads look real.

In some instances the loads are real and they are setting you up for cargo theft.

Here are some things you can do to protect yourself.

✅ Confirm the load by calling the number listed on the broker's website
✅ Verify the email domain on the paperwork
✅ Be cautious of loads that are paying considerably more than the current market
✅ Avoid booking loads through text

A good rate is what gets your attention, but a good margin is what keeps you in business.

Be sure the loads you run don't just look good on paper. By checking these four numbers you can help set yourself up for a healthier margin and a stronger business. Know the rate you need!

✅ Calculate ALL miles to run the load, not just your loaded ones
✅ Get the Revenue per Mile to run the load using the miles you just calculated
✅ Compare the Revenue per Mile to your Cost per Mile
✅ Your time is valuable don't forget to figure that into your calculation
