Help make the holidays warm & bright for local kids in need. Valerie's Gallery, Newburyport / Portsmouth is gathering new hats, mittens, pjs, socks and underwear at the Newburyport shop on State St. to give to Community Giving Tree. The pick-up is Monday and she has a BIG box to fill. If you bring items to add to their bin from now until Dec. 4, you'll be entered in a drawing for a $100, $50 or $25 gift certificate. The Newburyport Summer Shuttle is finished for the season. We are still hosting a Getaway Contest until this Friday. If you have any comments about the service or feedback on how to improve it, please post here. We'll start up next Summer!

Okay - With Labor Day looming and back to school activities, we've all been busy so the Summer Shuttle Getaway Contest has been extended a week. It's easy: sign up on using the Getaway Contest tab on the side & submit a photo of what you love about Newburyport. Locals can play but it would be great to share with your friends further away so they can discover the Summer Shuttle and all that the Port City has to offer. So enter and share, share, share!!! The contest ends SEPTEMBER 9th.

This weekend (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday) is the last weekend that the Newburyport Summer Shuttle will be operating. It will NOT run on Monday, Labor Day. Hop aboard before it's gone until next year!

Newburyport is a great walking city. But sometimes, it is easier to ride. Did you know you can hop on the bus at the commuter rail to bring you downtown, then out to Plum Island? The bus driver will stop if you hail it and there are official bus stops by the library and the Tannery (opposite the bike shop). So leave the car behind & get around in air-conditioned comfort.
