🚨 FLOODING ALERT🚨

TRAVELERS: PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION TODAY — FRIDAY, AUGUST 21.

The flooding around Jacksontown/Buckeye Lake is creating major travel problems, especially around I-70 and SR-79.

📍 I-70 at SR-79: Both directions of I-70 are closed due to flooding. The water is covering the interstate, as shown in the photo.

📍 US-40 at SR-13 in Jacksontown: This area is being used as part of the I-70 detour and is experiencing heavy traffic and congestion, as shown in the second photo.

⚠️ PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS. Water can be much deeper and stronger than it appears, and conditions can change quickly.

If you’re traveling through the area today, slow down, allow extra time, watch for emergency crews, and consider an alternate route.

The South Fork of the Licking River along I-70 near Buckeye Lake is in Major Flood this morning. High water is covering I-70, just west of SR-79. If you are traveling, make sure you have an alternate route.

UPDATE: SR 37 is open to traffic.

LICKING COUNTY: SR 37 is closed to traffic between I-70 and U.S. 40 due to flooding. Motorists should use an alternate route.

LICKING COUNTY: The eastbound off ramp from Interstate 70 to State Route 79 is closed due to high water. We are continuing to monitor the rising water levels in the Buckeye Lake area and their potential impact to Interstate 70 this evening and into tomorrow. Remember, never drive around barricades or through high water. Turn around, don't drown.
