Somewhere along the way
a lot of adults were taught
that happiness meant becoming serious.
Responsible.
Practical.
Measured.
You learn to schedule everything.
Think everything through.
Explain yourself.
Behave appropriately.
And quietly, without noticing,
you start editing out the parts of yourself that used to make life feel electric.
Stop being weird.
Stop being loud.
Stop asking strange questions.
Stop laughing at nothing.
But the truth is,
the happiest adults
are usually the ones
who never fully fired
their inner weird child.
They still get curious about things
that have no obvious purpose.
They still try things badly
just to see what happens.
They still wander off the expected path because something caught their attention. They still laugh too hard at things that don’t matter.
They still say things a little sideways. They still keep a corner of their life unpolished and a little wild.
Turns out growing up
was never supposed to mean
growing dull.
May we all stay unpolished
and a little wild 🖤
