It’s been a whirlwind week along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and we’re grateful our community weathered the storm without major incidents. Our thoughts are with those who were impacted.

Also last week, Mississippi Export Railroad (MSE) was honored to welcome U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, Congressman Mike Ezell, Federal Railroad Administrator David Fink and members of the Mississippi Legislature for a firsthand look at MSE's infrastructure investments and its role in supporting economic development and job creation across South Mississippi.

Economic development is a team sport, and the visit highlighted the importance of MSE's partnerships with Jackson and George Counties, the Port of Pascagoula, Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, and private economic development partners like Mississippi Power and Cooperative Energy. Partnerships with Class I railroads, like Canadian National Railway (CN), are also critical because they connect Gulf Coast industries to the national rail network.

Special thanks to CN for providing beautifully restored historic passenger cars, offering our guests a unique perspective on MSE's operations and infrastructure investments.

Last week, Mississippi Export Railroad joined George County in breaking ground on a new transload facility on county-owned property in George County, Mississippi, where freight will move between truck and rail.

The site will give businesses across many industries direct access to rail, opening new shipping options and driving economic growth throughout the region.

Thank you to the George County Board of Supervisors and all of our community partners for helping make this project possible.

Last week, Director of Business Development, Brandon Boyd took part in Trent Lott International Airport's "Fly Into Reading" program. This event brought families together from across the community for a special story time.

Following a reading of The Secret Subway, each family received a copy of the book, a toy train, and a Mississippi Export Railroad rail safety pledge to help reinforce the importance of rail safety in our communities.
