A new and improved bike share fleet will be powered by HOPR
Cleveland, Ohio - After the winter and COVID-19 hiatus, bike share is now returning to Cleveland with some new bikes! HOPR will debut a completely upgraded bike and app this June.
The fleet of 250 GPS-enabled bikes will include a new locking system, which allows riders to unlock and ride bikes by simply scanning a QR code from the bike on their mobile device. This is made possible by the introduction of the HOPR Transit App, available in iOS and Android. With it, users will be able to quickly sign-up, find, reserve, and unlock a bike. “Ride history” and “miles ridden” data can also be found in the app for every user.
To complement the new fleet, and further improve urban mobility, HOPR, the County of Cuyahoga and the City of Cleveland will have bicycle parking hubs located through the City. Users will have the flexibility to ride anywhere but are encouraged to park responsibly and return the bikes to designated parking hubs or a public bike rack.
Chelsea Davidoff of HOPR says: “Since its launch in 2016, our mission has been to connect communities. Introducing updated bikes, technology, and improved flexibility for riders, will really further that mission.”
The first ride is free for anyone that downloads the HOPR Transit app. You can also choose from a variety of passes. Quick trips are now more affordable, only $1 to unlock a bike and 15¢ per minute thereafter. For more frequent riders, a Monthly Pass will be available for $25 per month, while an Annual Pass will cost $99. Current members of the discontinued UH Bikes will receive a credit match for unused ride time.
