The roads continue to remain slick this morning. We are urging everyone to slow down and use extra caution, especially when approaching intersections. Both city and county law enforcement have responded to multiple non-injury crashes caused by the hazardous conditions.
Please give yourself extra time to travel and stay alert. Your safety is our priority.

🌨️❄️Winter Weather Advisory ❄️🌨️

Miami County is under a Winter Weather Advisory from 5PM Thursday January 9th until 9AM Friday January 10th.

The US National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri advises a glaze of ice and up to two inches of snow accumulation are possible.

Expect roadways to be slippery and hazardous Thursday evening into Friday.

Huge shoutout to Miami County KS Sheriff's Office for their continued efforts in keeping everyone safe and helping expedite the calls this weather! And for the road crews who are tirelessly trying to keep up with the weather! We appreciate all the help we can get!

Roadways remain slick and dangerous. Road crews at the State, County and City level continue to treat the roadways but because of the temperatures and continuous precipitation we are seeing roadways refreeze that were previously clear.

Please stay home. But IF you absolutely have to drive, please be extra careful. Since Noon today we have worked 24 calls for service where vehicles have either crashed or slid off the roadway. Several of those had multiple slide offs in the same area.

In addition to the road crews the Sheriffs Office has had extra Deputies working the roadways helping those in need since Noon.

Please be safe and be prepared!
