From our founder:
Tonight I took an Uber ride (remember I’m the driver) for a man in North Hollywood. I showed up, the app notified him, and I waited. I texted him to let him know I was parked in front of a ford pick up, so that he could find me easier. I continued to wait.
I called him after 7 minutes, and he berated me for not pulling into his drive way (the pin was on the street), calling me names and telling me I was an idiot. I cancelled the ride immediately. I immediately reported to Uber, and asked that they never pair me with that rider again.
2 hours later, I received a notice that my account was in jeopardy of deactivation because I touched a rider inappropriately (remember he never got near my car!).
I have called Uber and they have yet to message or call me back. I continue to get deactivation notices. In my opinion Uber couldn’t care less. They don’t care about how my safety as a driver, the fact that I am one of only 17% of women drivers, and that men like this are part of the problem.
