Good news! Crews have OPENED Chipman Road at U.S. Route 50 in Lee’s Summit - ahead of schedule! This closure was in place for the U.S. Route 50 bridge replacement project that was originally anticipated to be completed by February 2023. Happy fall y’all!

Crews will be closing the following lanes and/or ramps beginning at 7:30 p.m. TONIGHT, Thursday, July 14, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning. These closures are for paving work. Motorists will need to find alternate routes during this time. All work is weather permitting.

- Crews will be CLOSING two lanes of southbound Interstate 435 over I-70.
- Crews will be CLOSING the ramp from westbound I-70 to southbound I-435.
- Crews will be CLOSING the ramp from northbound I-435 to Stadium Drive.

Additionally, crews will be completing paving work on Saturday, July 16, from 7:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning that will require the following closures:

- Crews will be CLOSING two lanes of southbound Interstate 435 over I-70.

🚧 BRIDGE WORK: Crews will begin the bridge replacement work in Lee's Summit at U.S. 50 and Chipman Rd. beginning next week. Traffic control work will begin on Monday, 3/21. Expect ramp closures in the area for ramp widening work beginning 3/22. A schedule of ramp closures is available on our webpage.

Chipman Rd. between Murray Rd. and Blue Parkway is tentatively scheduled to be closed on Monday, April 11, for approximately five months. Full details here: https://www.modot.org/node/25324

UPDATE: All lanes of southbound I-49 have reopened.

TRAFFIC: Officers have closed ALL southbound lanes of Interstate 49 from J Highway (Peculiar) to the MO-291 Highway exit, due to a fatality crash involving multiple vehicles.
We expect the interstate to be closed for multiple hours, as crews work to clear the scene.
Please avoid the area if possible.

🚧I-70 Update: Some good news this afternoon. Repairs are now underway and crews hope to reopen the outer lanes of westbound I-70 & 18th St. in KCMO by Monday morning. UPDATE 1/13 1:00 PM: Motorists are advised that westbound Interstate 70 near 18th St. will remain closed until further notice due to an early morning fire underneath the bridge. Missouri Department of Transportation staff are inspecting the bridge to determine the damage and potential needed repairs. Westbound I-70 motorists traveling out of Missouri should exit I-70 at the Interstate 435 interchange at mile marker 8 to get around the closure. All lanes of eastbound I-70 remain open. For local traffic only, westbound I-70 travelers can continue as far as the 18th street exit to get to area neighborhoods.

🚨Breaking/Traffic Alert: Crews will close ALL lanes of westbound I-70 at I-435, near the Truman Complex until further notice while they work to inspect the bridge involved in this morning's fire. Pleas plan ahead.... and find alternate routes. Posted: 1/13/22 @ 11:29am
