Freight is moving — but not evenly.

The Port of Los Angeles just posted its busiest month on record, U.S. intermodal rail volume is running higher, and wholesale sales increased in August.

But the broader Freight Transportation Services Index moved the other direction.

That means strength in a few major channels does not mean the entire national freight market is strong.
