The City of Greenville is seeking a qualified candidate for the part-time position of a Transit Utility Worker.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Including but not limited to) Cleans the exterior of each vehicle in the fleet at least once a week with the exception of any vehicles that are out of service. Checks the tire pressure of all tires on the vehicle that is being washed and reports any low tire pressure to the Operations Manager or Public Transportation Director. Cleans the inside of each vehicle in the fleet at least once a week with the exception of any vehicles that are out of service. This includes sweeping and mopping the floors, cleaning the windows, wiping down the seats and the frequently touched surfaces. Make sure each bus has an adequate supply of system brochures both in English and Spanish and notifies the Public Transportation Director when more brochures need printed. Posts notices in the buses as needed, such as holiday closures.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and basic experience, knowledge and/or training in dispatch experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: There are no special education or licensing requirements for this position.

SALARY: Starting pay is $10.61 an hour.

The City of Greenville is seeking 3 qualified candidates for the part-time position of a Transit Driver.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Including but not limited to) Operates a motor vehicle in the provision of public transit services in compliances with all applicable DOT, federal, state, local and system regulations and policies and ensures the safe and timely transportation of all passengers. Assists passengers as needed in the boarding and disembarking of the vehicle to ensure the safety of all passengers, including assistance during vehicle evacuation as necessary. Board and disembarks passengers, including those using common wheelchairs or other mobility devices, requiring the use of lift equipment and securement systems according to the systems policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all passengers. Completes daily paperwork using pen or pencil, as required, to ensure accurate reporting and records. Complete daily pre-trip inspection using the required inspection checklist to ensure the proper safe functioning of the vehicle. Regularly inventories vehicle equipment and supplies; reports restocking needs per the system’s policies established procedure to maintain a safe, functional vehicle. Fuels the vehicle; ensures that all vehicle systems are properly shut down; visually inspects the interior for any items left by passengers; locks the vehicle to maintain security. Regularly cleans the interior of the vehicle to maintain a sanitary environment for passengers and the safe operation of the vehicle. (Please check all that apply.) Empty trash from inside the vehicle. Disinfects vehicle armrests, seats, handrails, dashboard, instrument panel, etc. using a disinfectant cleaner.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and basic experience, knowledge and/or training in driving experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver’s license, meet or exceed system-established driver eligibility standards and must possess and maintain a good driving record meeting or exceeding the system’s established driver eligibility standards.

SALARY: Starting pay is $15.89 an hour.
