The pictures below are from the Via Colori event held this year at Stafford Regional Airport. Artists created these drawings using chalk on asphalt. The event is organized through the Stafford County Museum and Cultural Center and is held annually to raise funds for various causes. There was plenty of food, music and interesting people. If you missed this year's event, look for Via Colori next year toward the end of September. Admission is free and each visitor is given a raffle ticket for the Sunday drawing.

While these may look like ordinary small jets, these planes are in fact waiting for the arrival of vital organs for transplant patients. Regional airports like Stafford serve as a transportation transfer point for the handoff of donor organs. Each plane in this picture represents one recipient who will hopefully have and extended and better qualify of life, facilitated by an airport capable of accepting light jet traffic.

The announcement below is the 7th Annual car show and toy collection for Toys For Tots hosted by Stafford Regional Airport. I would encourage anyone who would like to contribute to this worthwhile charity to come to the airport and support this event

Stafford Regional Airport is pleased to host the annual Household Hazardous Waste collection day the the airport on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Accepted items include aerosols, cleaning chemicals, diesel, furniture stain, gasoline, herbicides, insecticides, mercury thermometers, oil paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, propane tanks under 20 pounds, computer items and peripherals, and wood polish. Items that will NOT be accepted include ammunition, asbestos, automotive batteries, biohazards, cylinders over 20 pounds, explosives, medical waste, medications, oxygen tanks, CRT monitors, televisions and anything that is radioactive. Collections will start at 9:00am run until 3:00 pm. For additional information, refer to the R-Board website at www.r-board.org/hhw.

On Saturday, August 17, Stafford Regional Airport was pleased to host the 7th annual 'Stangs and Fangs Car Show. The show featured about 120 cars that took the chance that rain would wait until the show was over to start. This Show raised money for Cooking Autism, the charity of choice for this event. The airport wishes to thank all the participants, vendors and the 500 or so visitors who stopped by to see the cars and grab a quick bite to eat.

This past Saturday, September 16, Stafford Regional Airport hosted the UMC Run for Bo 5K race. About 400 people showed up for this race, which was held in the early evening. The race is part of a 5-race series hosted by Stafford County. There was a race for little kids, a longer race for medium sized kids, and the 5K race for larger kids, also known as adults. EMC did a great job of running the race and the weather cooperated with a cool evening and beautiful sunset.

This past Friday, September 8th, a group of 19 members of a joint agency came to Stafford Regional Airport to observed and learn about fueling operations at the airport. The Airport was glad to host this visit. Pictured here is JC Stevens, the Airport Operations Manager, explaining the operational and safety features and procedures for truck refueling. The class was also able to participate in an UH-60 refueling and understand fuel farm operations as well.

The Stafford Regional Airport Wings and Wheels showcase was held August 5 at the airport. Pictured below is a C-47 cargo aircraft named "Luck of the Irish." The plane flew to Stafford from the Pittsburg area and was available for public tours. My thanks to the Commemorative Air Force for coordinating this part of the event. The C-47 was also available later in the day for photographs of cars with the aircraft as a large backdrop. All funds associated with the photo sessions were donated to Cooking Autism, a local charity that uses cooking as a means to teach children with autism.
