DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: TROY ROBINSON
Our Indiana Transport Driver Spotlight series continues! This time, we’re recognizing Troy Robinson from Churubusco, Indiana, who has been driving with Indiana Transport since December 2018.
Before getting into RV transport, Troy was a salesman at a large Ram dealership in Fort Wayne. After selling trucks to transport drivers and hearing them talk about making their own schedules and traveling the country, he started thinking the transport life might be for him. It took a few years to finally make the jump — but as Troy says, he’s glad he did.
Troy originally drove for another transport company where his loads were assigned through dispatch. The Indiana Transport load board and available freight were a big part of what brought him to Team IT, giving him the ability to choose the runs that work best for him.
That freedom is still one of his favorite parts of RV transport today — choosing where he travels, when he works, when he takes time off, and being able to dictate his own day. He also appreciates the dispatchers who work hard to help drivers and the amount of freight available to keep them moving.
His advice to someone considering RV transport?
Your results are directly tied to your effort. Troy believes this can be a great career for someone who is self-motivated and willing to stay busy. He also recommends learning to handle as much of your own truck and equipment maintenance as possible — a skill that can save a driver a lot of money over time. I
