Happy Friday Everyone! Today's instructional tip of the week: Preventative Maintenance

What is Preventative Maintenance? It is defined as "simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations".

Examples of this include:
-Removing or repairing landing gear tires
-Servicing landing gear struts
-Replacing or cleaning spark plugs
-Replenishing hydraulic fluid
-Or other information as found under 14 CFR 43 Appendix A, Part C

However, to do this type of maintenance it must be done on an aircraft you own or operate. This can't be done on rental aircraft. Second, you must be a Private Pilot or higher to do this type of work. A student pilot can't do this type of work. Third, only do it if you are comfortable doing it. If not, talk to a local A&P Mechanic and he/she will show you how to properly do it. New tasks can be daunting at first, but with proper training it will build you more confidence. That's the instructional tip for this week!

Good afternoon Everyone. Today's photos of the month are the Highway 22 Roundabout and the West 94 Business Loop Roundabout!

These two roundabouts are almost at completion. According to the North Dakota Department of Transportation, these roundabouts will improve the safety and traffic flow at these intersections. This is especially true when long vehicles need more space to turn around.

These features will include:
-A Frontage road alignment
-Shared-use paths
-New lighting

As the local joke goes, "There are two seasons in North Dakota, winter and road-construction". With the road construction almost complete, drivers and pedestrians can enjoy the good use of these roundabouts.
