Always, always do your do diligence to properly review any household good mover. A few years ago my in-laws hired a third party household good broker to move their items. They were quoted a price, paid the price then when the mover that was contracted by the broker arrived they had to write a check for an additional amount $$$. Then the mover told them they would have no problem storing their belongings until they found a place back in Ohio.
Several phone calls from my in-laws asking when their items would be delivered, but we’re unanswered. Finally I made calls and emails on their behave only to get a response that I was not an authorized person to speak with. I found several rules they had broken regarding regulations that they had to follow and once my mother in law called and added me to their account as an authorized party things moved along quickly. They used patio furniture for about a month along with an air mattress before they finally got their belongings. As someone who knows the regulations or at least knows how to properly check a moving company out before you sign any contracts or pay them anything.
