Davenport Radio Control Society

Davenport Radio Control Society A club for RC airplane & helicopter builders , flyers, fuel & electric We have grown to over 100 members from just a handful 30 years ago.

Based in Davenport, Iowa, the "Davenport R/C Society" is an organization of people interested in building and flying radio controlled models. Some of our members build model boats and cars as well, but most prefer airplanes or helicopters. Our club has been in existence for more than 30 years, and many of the charter members are still active in the club. Our members come from the entire Quad Citie

s area and from every walk of life. Our general membership meeting is the 2nd Monday of each month either at our flying site or the Eastern Ave Library (During COVID please check our events page or meeting locations). All our meetings are open to the public. You are welcome to attend any of them if you would like to learn more about this fascinating sport. Our club is chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics "AMA". The AMA's function is to coordinate the activities of many clubs across the U.S. in an effort to assist each club in formulating a better, and safer program.

Well i was finally able to get over to the field today and theres good news and bad news. Good news is mower fired right up just needs a little air in the tires. Bad news is were not gonna be able to get over to the actual flying part of adventure field for awhile. The lower area we need to take to get over there is completely saturated were gonna need alot of adry weather before we can drive or even walk over there.

Do not try to drive over there at all or you will sink into the mud immediately. I will monitor it the next couple weeks but unfortunately i think we are looking at 2 weeks plus before we can drive over.

Hello everyone I have not had an opportunity to get over to the field yet this year but I imagine after all the rain we have received the last few weeks that the lower area in the drive over area is going to be very soft so you might want to walk down to check it out before you try to drive across. I will get over there in the near future to make sure the mower battery is charged and give the grass a mow as well making sure to check on the windsock. If anyone has been over please feel free to comment below if this is inaccurate.

Adventure Field has been mowed. The lower area is back to being very saturated and has standing water. I had to go the long way around the lake with the mower to mow the runway. Hopefully itll be dry by the weekend.

Adventure Field is mowed. Word of warning though the low area is very wet. I would advise staying out of the same lane the tractor uses as those tracks are holding water. Might even recommend not driving over until it dries up some more.
