Free things to do in downtown Norfolk that are genuinely worth your time:

The Chrysler Museum of Art. Free admission, and the glass studio does free glassblowing demonstrations at noon. Closed Mondays.

The MacArthur Memorial. Free. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The Elizabeth River Ferry. Two dollars, kids ride free, and it is the best two dollars of water views in Hampton Roads.

A photo of your ID on your phone is not accepted. A digital driver's license is not accepted. Screenshots are not accepted.

Strangely, a photocopy of a birth certificate is fine. Paper beats pixels at the terminal.

Check the document folder tonight, not Saturday morning.

Something most Norfolk cruisers never find out: the Battleship Wisconsin is in the same building as the cruise terminal. Not down the street. The same building. Nauticus is right there, and cruise passengers have been offered buy-one-get-one on admission.

If you ever have three hours to kill before boarding, that is where they go.
