Our community has absolutely astonished us in the way it has came together in this time of need! Everyone and anyone is helping out all the people who lost their homes, people are donating supplies for the volunteers repairing damaged homes and clearing debris, a neighboring school is collecting funds to help repair the damage at Denison school, bank accounts are being set up for relief funds, and so much more! Denison School sustained damage from the tornado, but not major damage thankfully. It had some busted windows, and damage to the roof. Because it’s in a low spot, with the roof and window damage, it’s major issue was water damage. Thankfully the school’s damage and major contents like computers, desks, shelves, textbooks, etc. will be covered. It’s the small things that go unnoticed. Teachers spend weeks decorating their classrooms in preparation of school to start, purchase extra school supplies in case a child runs out or may not have any at all, and so so much more! They do not get near enough credit for all they do for our children. And all of that comes out of their own pockets. When Denison got hit by the tornado, the water damage it sustained ruined a lot of these items that the teachers personally bought. Not every classroom sustained damage, but a lot did. To give back to these teachers that have given so much to us and our children, Lee and I decided we are going to run the food truck Friday, November 18th, for lunch and dinner, and all proceeds, and any donations received, will go directly to the teachers of Denison to replace what they can in their classrooms. Call ins and delivery orders of 3 or more will be available for lunch. No deliveries will be available for dinner. Teachers are the backbone of our community. They create every other profession in the world. Without teachers there are no doctors, no plumbers, no firemen, no lawyers, no nurses, no carpenters, no engineers, no bricklayers, no insurance agents. All of these professions we are relying on so heavily during this time would not be possible without teachers, so let’s give back to them during their time of need. Let’s tell them, Thank you for being a Teacher ❤️
We also want to give a special thanks to our sponsors who’s gracious donations helped make this event happen!
