“No one likes tolls, but I think we have a better one now,” said Sen. Mark Abraham, R-Lake Charles.

Well, Mark Abraham State Senator this is not a better toll. This is catastrophic for Louisiana truckers and the people of Lake Charles. They're paying twice for a bridge that is federally funded.

Tell your legislator of the IMPACT of the Calcasieu River bridge toll!

We received news that Governor Landry and the delegation have done an about-face and are now supporting a toll on the Calcasieu River bridge. Our position remains consistent regardless of who the governor is: we oppose a toll placed on the backs of the truckers in Louisiana to subsidize funding for a federal bridge on the national interstate system. There will be a hearing at the state capitol on January 30 to review and approve the toll by the Joint Transportation Committee. Please take a minute to tell your lawmaker about the toll's impact on your trucking business.

“We are immensely grateful to Governor Jeff Landry for his unwavering commitment to securing a deal that truly benefits the people of Southwest Louisiana,” said the legislators. “His dedication to transparency and affordability for this bridge project reflects a genuine investment in the prosperity and well-being of our region.”

To this group of legislators, we are not immensely grateful!

While the Landry Administration is pushing lower tolls than the Edwards Administration, this will still place an unfair burden on truckers across this state. We have beaten this toll before and are asking the legislature to do the right thing and vote against it again. It should not matter who is in the governor's mansion; do what's right for the trucking community.
We encourage the entire trucking community in the state to call your legislators and tell them you oppose this toll.

We are reaching out today to share some deeply concerning news that has recently come to light regarding the trucking community in Louisiana.
It has come to our attention that an agreement has been reached between the administration and a third-party company, which proposes the implementation of tolls on the Calcasieu River bridge. At its core, this arrangement would place an unfair financial burden squarely on the shoulders of Louisiana's truckers, who are already dealing with substantial expenses. Specifically, this plan puts our homegrown Louisiana truckers at a competitive disadvantage to out-of-state truckers.
Truckers in our state already shoulder heavy fees and fuel taxes, and adding tolls to their financial responsibilities could have disastrous consequences for already struggling Louisiana trucking companies.
As advocates for the trucking industry, we feel compelled to voice our concerns and seek a solution that does not disproportionately burden Louisiana's truckers.
We call upon all stakeholders to reconsider the consequences of this toll proposal and work together to find alternatives to address infrastructure needs without placing an unfair burden on our dedicated trucking professionals.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide updates as they become available. In the meantime, we encourage you to join us in raising awareness about this issue and advocating for a fair resolution that preserves the vitality of Louisiana's trucking industry.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

The truckers position remains the same. Whether it is a Democrat or Republican Governor, a $12.50 toll or an $8.25 toll, truckers are taxed enough already.

Remember the TEA party movement that many of our elected officials grew from, that is how the truckers feel today. We pay fuel taxes, permit fees, license fees, sky high insurance and we pay our fair share of taxes to pave the roads. An additional tax on truckers, through a toll-especially our state truckers-only serves to disadvantage our Louisiana truckers.
