One of my biggest fears: cat gets into washer or dryer and I don’t realize it!….

Moose saved our cat’s life tonight… and I genuinely don’t think I would’ve caught it in time without him.

I had just started the dryer & walked away to get the dogs’ food ready. A few minutes later, I set their bowls down - and Moose wasn’t there.

Which is… suspicious. Borderline concerning.

I went looking for him & found him sitting outside the laundry room door, very intensely staring at me.
I called for him to come eat - nothing.

Then I walked over & he started whining… pawing at the door like he needed me to open it.

This is not normal behavior for him, so at this point I’m confused. I’m thinking maybe a ball had rolled under the door or something.

I open it, he sprints in & plants himself right in front of the dryer.

And then I hear it…

A faint little meow.

I open the dryer door as fast as I possibly could.

Sure enough, the cat comes flying out, then immediately runs off & starts acting like I personally put her in there for punishment.

Meanwhile… she climbed in there on her own free will to nap in the warm towels 🙄

She seems totally fine (and has already tried to get back in, because clearly we learned nothing).

But yeah… safe to say I will now be checking the dryer from top to bottom before ever turning it on again.

Moose is surprisingly the hero in this one…. Which is something I don’t get to say too often.

The most Unreal event took place in my life this week. I was driving to Panera on Shaw, where I have been going almost every morning for years. There are only 2 seats I sit in, both by the window. That day I saw a small kitten starting to walk across Marty just before I got to Panera, it was going to be a goner for sure so I flipped a U Turn and ran to pick it up off the road. Then I had no alternative but take kitty back to my house, skipping my meal. Come to find out a car smashed into Panera that morning right into the seat I would have been sitting at. I went to save the kitten, but in an unbelievable twist of fate, the kitten saved me!

I will be quitting pet transporting!

No matter what happens I should have been prepared for it: even if the owners had no idea it could happen!

On this trip I will be PAYING for the PRIVILEGE of working 24/7 (LITERALLY!), being sleep deprived, doing the ABSOLUTE BEST for other people’s precious fur-friends, being AWAY FROM HOME for 2-3 weeks, missing my own animals, PAYING SOMEONE ELSE to care for them, offering EXTRAS no other transporter does (like trackers on the pet while in my care), coming to LOVE the animals I will never see or hear about again,

and just plain doing something I love doing, but it’s KILLING ME.

It’s been a microcosm of life itself. So very NOT WORTH IT!

I’m doing a Pet Transport route starting in Minnesota on March 23rd (possibly leaving the day earlier). Headed to California first. There are still several spaces available. If anyone is in need of a transport message me, I’m very competitively priced 😁

Shmidge didn’t like the “invaders” at first; but within a few days he became a sort of surrogate ‘mom’ 😁 Orange tabby, Rory, and itty bitty ‘Poe’ (who was unfortunately weaned too young, as he was clearly only 5 or 6 weeks old when I took him from his SECOND home, where he had already lived a couple weeks). There he had bonded to the slightly older, newly renamed Rory. I just couldn’t separate them!

As the heretofore youngest, and possibly most spoiled, in my home, Shmidge wasn’t interested in sharing mom’s time, lap, or cuddles. But Rory and Poe appeared to not even notice the hisses and occasional swat of a paw. Poe often just went right under Shmidge’s belly, just for fun!

It will be hard to say goodbye to Rory at some point. But for now the 3 youngest boys have become fast friends, and can ALL enjoy “the good life” for a while!

How many is too many? I don’t know, I haven’t reached it yet….

Two cats picked up and safely delivered to their respective owners (one in Grand Rapids, MI, the other in Texas). Now picking up and delivering 3 different pups before this trip is done. What a wonderful job! I get to meet and transport ALL KINDS of wonderful animals, and get to meet so many incredible pet lovers!
