PurposeBound Participants are excited to announce our 2022, 3rd quarter recipient of $5000, Average Everyday Miracles! This amazing charity was founded by Adel resident, Dani McKibbin Steinberg, who experience a long NICU journey after the birth of their triplets. “When we were in the NICU at Blank Children’s Hospital with our triplets, I connected with two other moms who also had babies there for long periods of time,” says Dani. “The three of us compared information and learned so much from each other. We all had scary NICU journeys with many terrifying days and we leaned on each.”

Because of their experience, they knew they needed to do something to help others in similar situations. “None of us knew people in real life who had been through NICU journeys like ours before, so we decided we would start a Facebook group, thinking maybe we would connect with a few other families and maybe we could share what we had learned between the three of us.” Connect with other families, they did. Their Facebook group has grown to over 1500 members!

“As our group has grown,” continued Dani, “we have added projects and structure to the organization. We stock and push a cart that goes room to room to support families and provide little surprises to make them smile. We thank staff by providing snacks and meals. We advocate for families, and host annual reunions. We also fund equipment and other needs.” This $5000 PurposeBound donation will help provide the NICU at Blank Children’s Hospital with new swaddle wraps, new positioning tools for babies, and a hospital grade scale to support nursing moms. “We are so honored to receive this donation,” says Dani.
