2003年初秋，一群想替台灣農業發展而努力的人成立了「台灣農業旅遊發展協會﹝簡稱：農遊協會﹞」，一個非營利之社會團體，一個紥根台灣推動農業體驗的平台，以台灣地區農漁民利益為優先，致力發展台灣農業旅遊，並推動國內外人士體驗台灣農漁村生活之美為協會宗旨。希望可藉此達到促進休閒農漁業發展，繁榮農漁村，增加地方觀光經濟效益，發揚台灣農漁產業文化之目的。
我們也關心教育，因為改變世界的力量來自每個人的內心，改變人心的過程仰賴教育。鑒於日本在2005年開始推動「食育基本法」要求中小學生認識食材，於2007年修訂「學習教育法」透過立法實踐推動學童從事自然體驗活動，規定小學生每年至少到農村體驗一周；行政院農委會近年來亦積極推動「精緻農業健康卓越方案」，並支持本會推動農業體驗校外教學理念。
目前台灣中小學的課程從各領域的綱要、目標與主軸來看，有不少與農業資源相關。本會自2003年成立以來致力推動農業
體驗校外教學，冀能藉此豐富教學課程的本土化與多樣性，增進學童在團體生活中的自律性與同理心，把學校教授的知識與自然環境結合，帶領國家未來的主人翁走出教室，從點、線、面的「遊」到深度永續的「學」，並在樂鄉樂土中培養愛鄉愛土的情懷，自體驗過程中了解台灣農業文化的生命、生活與生態，以自然為師落實全人教育。
Taiwan Agricultural Tourism Development Association (TATDA) is a Non-Profit Organization. Its responsibilities include developing agriculture tourism and encouraging nationals and foreigners to experience the distinctive rural life style. Furthermore, TATDA seeks to improve the rural leisure industries and expand the agricultural and fishing culture to worldwide. TATDA has cooperated with the Council of Agriculture (C.O.A) in order to expand the agricultural field trip. Both parties are efforts to encourage teenagers go outdoors for developing Taiwan agricultural field trip. The main goal of this cooperation is to expect teenagers getting close the nature and learn from the practice. TATDA also provides the quality fields for selection and training courses. Moreover, we offer a platform for agricultural operators to learn and knowledge exchange from each other. Nine years since the establishment, TATDA aims to become an industrial, official, and academia’s connection. TATDA has been actively cooperating with the C.O.A and organizing variety training counseling courses for everyone who wants to attend; On the other hand, we also collaborate with the Ministry of Education, and encourage primary and high schools to participate in the rural field trip program. TATDA has continued to develop and sustain our philosophy, [TATDA Love Earth], and put our enthusiasm on Taiwan agricultural industries.
