Visiting Taiwan this summer? Pack these before you land.

Short sleeves and shorts — July and August average above 35°C. Dress accordingly.
Light jacket — every shop, restaurant, and MRT runs the AC cold enough to need one.
Mosquito repellent — outdoor spots in summer, especially after sunset, will find you first.
SPF 50+ sunscreen — Taiwan's UV index regularly pushes into the danger zone. Non-negotiable.
Portable fan — the handheld electric fan is practically the island's unofficial summer accessory.
Reusable bottle (500ml+) — heat and humidity drain you fast. Bring it to any bubble tea shop and most will knock NT$5 off your order. 🧋
Comfortable walking shoes — temples, coastal paths, and old streets are best explored on foot.

There's a bus stop on Taiwan's north coast where the only thing in front of you is the Pacific.

Tiaoshi sits on the coastal highway along the Jinshan shoreline — a small shelter facing a wide sweep of ocean, with the mountains rising quietly behind it.

It's considered the most scenic bus stop along this stretch of the north coast, and once you see it, the title makes sense. The coastline here runs for kilometers, low and open, and on a clear day Keelung Islet floats on the horizon like it was placed there deliberately.
