大東文化藝術中心定位為一多功能文化園區，包括複合機能的多功能演藝廳，規劃文化創意商業空間的視覺展覽館，以及獨具特色的藝術圖書館。
未來藉由高雄捷運與各大文化網絡的串聯，營造大東文化藝術中心、衛武營藝術文化中心、高雄市文化中心為鏈結的藝文軸線，形成一完整的都會藝術網絡，打造21世紀台灣最新文化地標。
