The charging industry isn’t just about deploying as many fast chargers as possible anymore.

In 2026, the real innovation is happening underneath: from megawatt charging of both cars and trucks to robotic charging arms and wireless charging taking the hands off the process altogether. Battery-buffered hubs and V2G are using batteries for far more than just driving.

And alongside the innovation side, the scaling up of European charging industry means charging networks find themselves an increasingly competitive market, needing to differentiate via technology, amenities or something else.

EV Sales in Europe are up 26% in Q1 2026, and the shift is accelerating ⚡

After a record-breaking 2025, Europe’s EV market is not slowing down. In Q1 2026 alone, over 723,000 new battery-electric vehicles were registered across 31 markets, pushing EV market share to 20.6%. That means every fifth car sold in Europe today is fully electric, with BEVs rapidly closing the gap to petrol and firmly ahead of diesel.

What’s driving this growth? The “big three”: Germany, the UK, and France, account for 56.6% of all EV sales; with France standing out thanks to a +50,4% jump in adoption. At the same time, countries like Denmark (80%), Norway (97.9%), and Finland (46.9%) are reaching record-breaking market shares, while emerging markets such as Poland (+73.1% YoY), Slovenia (+78.2%) and Croatia (+282.4%) are accelerating at impressive rates.

Our full Q1 2026 EV Sales Report breaks down the numbers country by country, highlighting the biggest growth markets, surprising slowdowns, and key trends shaping the future of electric mobility in Europe.

Eleport has partnered with NEPI Rockcastle to deploy 114 ultra-fast EV charging points (up to 400 kW) at leading shopping centres across 11 cities in Poland.

This collaboration reflects a shared approach to making EV charging more convenient by integrating it into everyday destinations. Drivers will be able to charge their vehicles while visiting shopping centres — combining efficiency with daily routines.

The rollout will take place over the coming months, with each location featuring 6–12 high-power charging points across key cities, including Wrocław, Gdańsk, Katowice, Toruń, Opole, Olsztyn and more.

By expanding infrastructure in high-traffic, strategically selected commercial locations, Eleport continues to support the growth of electric mobility across Central and Eastern Europe. 💚

Electric vans are going mainstream 🚐⚡

12% of all new vans in Europe are already electric — and that number is rising fast. What used to be an early adoption decision is quickly becoming a business standard.

For companies, it’s no longer if — it’s how. Lower running costs, access to low-emission zones, and stronger long-term economics are already shifting the equation.

But here’s what matters most:Choosing the right van is only half the story. The real advantage comes from pairing it with the right charging setup — built around your routes, operations, and daily reality.

At Eleport, we support fleets where it counts — on the road and across Central and Eastern Europe.

With access to a wide public charging network, simple pricing, and business-friendly solutions, running electric becomes a practical, scalable choice.

🔍 Curious what stood out most in our latest price report? Two things:

1️⃣ Fast charging prices don’t predict EV adoption ⚡
Even countries with some of the lowest prices in Europe, like Bulgaria or the Baltics, still see EV market shares below 10%.

At the same time, mature markets like the Netherlands (40.2%) and Belgium (34.7%) have some of the highest EV adoption in Europe, despite being among the most expensive countries to charge.

2️⃣ More competition doesn’t equal cheaper charging 🏁
Germany, with hundreds of operators, ranks just 21st out of 29 in median price (€0.59), and the UK, one of the most competitive markets, is the most expensive.

Meanwhile, Lithuania shows the opposite: relatively low competition, yet it ranks as the 3rd cheapest country in Europe for charging.

What this really shows: there’s no simple link between price, competition, and outcomes — market structure plays a much bigger role than it seems.

In our analysis of fast charging prices across 29 European countries, Tesla leads by starting with the lowest off-peak tariff in 18 countries for all EV drivers, without a membership fee.

Tesla’s pricing works differently from most networks. Prices can vary by location and time of day, and the €11.99/month membership lowers them even further. In some markets, the off-peak membership tariff can drop to around €0.15/kWh.

This is one of the patterns we found while analysing fast-charging prices across Europe.
