This unique acoustic monitoring buoy was created to save North Atlantic right whales.

This is the first of two buoys that will be placed on shipping lanes off the East Coast of the United States in an effort to improve right whale identification efforts and prevent collisions with animals that are severely endangered.

This significant project is being carried out in cooperation with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and is a part of the commitment made by CMA CGM to protect marine biodiversity both domestically and internationally.

Thanks to everyone who participated! Later this summer, keep an eye out for the launch of our second buoy off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. πŸ³πŸ‹

CMA CGM demonstrated its commitment to the Lebanese people and participated in the operation by offering the transportation by land and sea of the 50 Buses donated by France to Lebanon.

Once again, the Aknoul reaches the Lebanese shore during these unprecedented socio-economic circumstances. Its arrival today succeeds the complimentary shipment that has reached Beirut back in September 2020 carrying more than 2,500 tons of humanitarian aid.

At the time of independence, Pakistan lacked the industrial infrastructure and Philips was one of the few companies which opted to stay, act and build up a strong industrial base for Pakistan. In 1949, the Philips Electrical Company of Pakistan was established. (Philips & Co. was launched on May 15, 1891 by Gerard Philips, Anton Philips and Fredrik Philips.) The main objectives were to recruit, train and develop local talent pool, marketing experience and build an organization with a viable industrial complex in due course of time.
In 1954, the Philips Electrical Industries, the manufacturing unit of Pakistan was set up. Manufacturing of radios started in Karachi the same year.

In 1969, Philips launched a TV assembly plant in site area Karachi Pakistan, they contacted Rinus Rynart ( owner of Rynart-Trucks, was founded in 1958, in the Netherlands. The company operated with own drivers, top of the line trucks and trailers equipped for long haul operations ) asking him can he organize a transport from Rotterdam to Karachi. This was never done before, without even a reconnaissance trip. Rynart sends two volvo trucks with semitrailers that where able to carry out this first commercial run from Rotterdam / Holland, to Karachi / Pakistan in 24 days and they even managed to find cargo (Leather and textile goods from Karachi) for the return! Within few months, more than 50 trucks where doing these rotations of 30,000 km.

In 1975, the Fiat factory in Italy, arranged a film crew ( of Centro Storico Fiat ) to made a documentary movie for Rynart-Trucks. Mr Rynart send three Fiat trucks for this trip of 20.000 km and 2 months from home, from Rotterdam / Holland, to Karachi / Pakistan (via Eastern European countries + Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan ). This documentary called Rotta_Karachi ("Express Karachi’’) traces this road adventure. From 1970 to 1980 Rynart send 40 trucks to Pakistan.
