Barbers wants use of sidewalks, roads regulated to ensure pedestrian safety

Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers has proposed regulating the use of sidewalks and public roads in all urban areas to ensure safe pedestrian passage and ease in traffic flow that he hopes will result in a more progressive economy.

Under House Bill 504 or the proposed “Sidewalks and Public Roads Use Act,” the lawmaker sought to regulate the use of sidewalks and public roads in urban areas, which are meant for the utilization and enjoyment of the general public.

“It is of no secret that urban areas have become so congested that people tend to disregard order and do things convenient to them. Small businesses have used and occupied our sidewalks, leaving pedestrians with no choice but to walk by the roadsides, thus exposing them to greater risks of injury and even death,” Barbers said.

He said residents who do not have parking spaces at home use the streets as their parking lots.

Meanwhile, business establishments which do not have ample parking spaces use the roads as parking lots for their vehicles and those of their clients, thereby clogging the already narrow roads and impeding traffic flow, he said. (politics.com.ph)

Inanunsyo ngayon ni DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade na LIBRE NA ANG SAKAY ng mga ESTUDYANTE sa MRT-3, LRT-2 at PNR, mula Lunes hanggang Biyernes (maliban sa holiday), sa mga piling oras sa umaga at sa hapon.

LIBRE na rin ang TERMINAL FEE para sa mga estudyante sa mga PALIPARANG pag-aari at pinangangasiwaan ng CAAP.

LIBRE rin ang TERMINAL FEE ng mga mag-aaral sa lahat ng mga PANTALANG pag-aari at pinatatakbo ng PPA.

Patunay po ito ng patuloy na pagmamalasakit ng Kagawaran ng Transportasyon at ng mga kaugnay nitong ahensyang MRT-3, LRTA, PNR, CAAP at PPA, upang bigyan ng komportableng buhay ang mga Pilipino, gaya ng hangad ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
