SUPREME COURT DECLARED PORK BARREL UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Yet pork barrel has resurfaced in the national budget — under a new name.

According to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), these funds are now called “allocables.”

PCIJ explains:

“Allocables are district congressman’s pork barrel allocations lodged in the National Expenditure Program or the ‘president’s budget.’ It was determined by former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral at the onset of the Marcos administration, and has been effective since 2023.”

NEWS UPDATE: Sa ikatulong higayon, si Byron Garcia nipasaka og laing kaso batok kang Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro.

Ning higayuna, ang kaso naggumikan sa nagpadayong renovation sa Governor’s Office sa Executive Building sa Kapitolyo nga nagkantidad og P2.6 milyones.

Sa iyang criminal complaint affidavit nga gisang-at atubangan sa Office of the Ombudsman for the Visayas niadtong Disyembre 5, 2025, si Garcia niingon nga si Baricuatro nakalapas sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act (RA 3019) ug RA 10066 o ang National Cultural Heritage Act alang sa pag-renovate sa bag-ong Gobernador's Office sa Main Capitol Building, diin gideklarar nga usa ka nasudnong Kapitolyo.

Matod niya nga ang bag-ong gobernador wala mangayo og mandatory heritage permit/clearance gikan sa National Historical Commission alang sa maong renovation, nga usa ka paglapas sa RA 10066 o National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009, ang balaod nga nanalipod sa mga istruktura nga gideklarar nga historical landmark.

“Gawas sa criminal liabilities, kinahanglan usab siya nga manubag sa administratibo niini alang sa Grave Misconduct, Abuse of Authority, Conduct Unbecoming of Public Official and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of Service ug kini igo nga hinungdan sa iyang preventive suspension, removal o dismissal sa serbisyo,” matod ni Garcia sa iyang complaint affidavit.
