Located in Banepa, 1 hour out of Kathmandu, the homestay enables individuals to stay with a local Nepali family and become immersed in Nepali life, culture and food. This experience is something that cannot be matched by hotels or guest houses. The residence has all the amenities available in modern residential buildings, with hot showers as required and filtered drinking water. The homestay build
ing offers outstanding scenery of hills and mountain ranges due to its multi-levels. You only need to see through the windows to watch magnificent sunrises and cascading hills. The Timila family consists of host father Bijuli, host mother Sunita and their children Sherry and Philip. Host mother Sunita prepares 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner. The town of Banepa offers a relaxed lifestyle away from the overwhelming hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Being in Banepa does not restrict guests from exploring Nepal, with local buses leaving for Kathmandu continuously throughout the day and costing less than $1USD. Many guests are involved with volunteer organizations working in the local hospitals, health clinics, or schools. This though does not have to be a barrier to staying in the Timila Homestay with host father Bijuli able to organize guest’s work in these areas along with activities to fulfill their time. The cost for guests is 100USD per week per person. This fee includes accommodation, the 2 meals a day, plus light tea and biscuits at 4pm along with internet. Transportation to and from the Timila Homestay from Kathmandu airport or Kathmandu in general can be organized through host father Bijuli but at the guest’s costs. An approximate cost of a taxi from Kathmandu to Banepa and vice versa is 1500 Nepalese Rupees. Guests are welcome all year round and can organize to stay directly through host father Bijuli.
