Malaysia Must Seize the Opportunity to Bring Formula 1 Back 🇲🇾🏎️

A forward-looking government must be prepared to recognise opportunities and turn them into real economic growth.

With reports suggesting that Malaysia may once again be considered as a potential Formula 1 host, our national and tourism leaders should seriously explore this opportunity. The return of Formula 1 to the Sepang International Circuit could attract international visitors, create business opportunities, support hotels, restaurants, transportation providers and local tourism operators, while strengthening Malaysia’s image on the world stage.

As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026, a major international motorsport event could become one of the country’s most exciting tourism highlights. It would not only bring racing fans to Sepang, but could also encourage them to extend their stay and explore destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak.

Malaysia already has the infrastructure, experience and international recognition. What we need now is strong leadership, careful planning and cooperation between the government, tourism agencies, event organisers and the private sector.

Let us hope our leaders will seize this opportunity and transform it into greater tourism revenue, employment and international exposure for Malaysia.

A progressive government should not merely wait for opportunities—it should be ready to create, secure and maximise them.
