Airport Developments Limited (ADL) has said it will on May 1 introduce an advanced Baggage Reconciliation System (Bars) at Kamuzu and Chileka International Airports.

Bars is a comprehensive solution that tracks baggage in real-time throughout the airport, monitoring the entire baggage journey from check-in to final destination.

In a statement on Tuesday, ADL says the introduction of Bars is in compliance with IATA Resolution 753, which mandates that airlines track baggage at four key points: passenger handover to airline, loading to the aircraft, transfer between carriers, and return to the passenger.

The firm says the system will significantly improve baggage management efficiency in the two airports by reducing incidences of lost delayedor baggage and reduced cost of mishandling rates.
