Wish all a Peaceful & Happy Thadingyut !!!

Myanmar Thadingyut marks the end of the Buddhist Lent and it falls on a Full Moon Day in October. It is during this time that the lights are lit up for a period of three days; the day before full moon, full moon day itself and the day after.
It is believed that Buddha went to Tavatimsa (heaven) and spent the three-month period teaching the sacred Abhidhamma to the heavenly beings. On the full moon day of Thadingyut – which is still known as Abhidhamma Day – Buddha descended back to the human realm with the procession which included a host of nats (deva) and brahmas. The people of the earthly realm lit up bright lights to help guide the Buddha and to celebrate his return, a tradition that is maintained to this day. This is why pagodas and homes throughout the country are decorated with electric lights, colourful paper lanterns, candles and even small ceramic saucers filled with oil are lit.
On this full moon festival day people pay respect to Buddha and to the elders with gifts and visit pagodas and homes.
