Festival 18th of September to the 3nd of October

Hey everyone!** ๐ŸŒŸ

As we approach one of the most important and heartwarming festivals in Cambodia, ๐๐œ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐ž๐ง, we wanted to share a bit about this special time with all of you!

Pchum Ben, also known as the "Festival of the Dead," is a deeply significant holiday in Cambodia where we honor our ancestors and loved ones who have passed away. Over 15 days, families gather to pay respects, offer food, and perform rituals that are believed to bring blessings to the spirits of the deceased.

Each day, families visit pagodas to make offerings of rice, fruits, and other foods. On the most important day, called **Ben Thom**, everyone comes together to pray and make offerings, hoping to bring peace and prosperity to their ancestors in the afterlife.

But itโ€™s not just about solemn rituals! Pchum Ben is also a time for family reunions, reconnecting with relatives, and sharing stories about loved ones. Thereโ€™s a sense of warmth and togetherness that fills the air. ๐ŸŽ‰

During Pchum Ben, it's believed that the gates of hell are opened, allowing spirits to come back to the human world. Thatโ€™s why the offerings are so importantโ€”they help to nourish the spirits during their time here. Itโ€™s also why we visit multiple pagodas, to ensure that all our ancestors are honored.

Pchum Ben is a beautiful reminder of the respect we have for our ancestors and the importance of family. Whether youโ€™re Cambodian or just visiting during this time, itโ€™s a wonderful opportunity to learn about our culture and participate in the traditions.

If youโ€™re in Cambodia during Pchum Ben, donโ€™t miss the chance to visit a pagoda, experience the rituals, and perhaps even make an offering of your own. Itโ€™s a meaningful way to connect with the culture and people of this amazing country.

Ever wondered about the deeper meaning behind Num Ansorm (แž“แŸ†แžขแž“แŸ’แžŸแž˜)? This delicious sticky rice cake isnโ€™t just a festive treatโ€”it carries rich cultural symbolism!

The shape of Num Ansorm resembles the lingam, a sacred symbol representing Shiva in Hinduism. The lingam, often depicted as a phallus, signifies fertility, creation, and the divine life force. In Khmer culture, this symbolism is embraced during celebrations to honor fertility and abundance.

As you enjoy Num Ansorm during Pchum Ben and other festivals, youโ€™re partaking in a tradition that connects with ancient beliefs and celebrates the continuity of life. Itโ€™s more than just a sweetโ€”it's a meaningful nod to our cultural heritage!

I think rainy season (May to October) in Cambodia is underrated.

Here's why:

1. Lush Scenery: The landscape turns vibrant green.
2. Fewer Crowds: Popular sites are less crowded.
3. Lower Prices: Discounts on accommodations and tours.
4. Cooler Temperatures: Rain cools down the heat.
5. Festivals: Unique cultural events like Pchum Ben and Bon Om Touk.
6. Full Rivers: Enhanced river cruises and floating village visits.
7. Wildlife: Abundant bird watching and wildlife activities.
