Kenya Transporters Association Ltd KTA was formed in 1969 as the Kenya African Road Transporters Association (KARTA) and later re-named the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) in 1982.

It is the umbrella body for road freight transporters whose broad objectives are to provide; a single authoritative voice to articulate business constraints facing its members. ng towards the realization of a safe, reliable, efficient, professional and environmentally friendly road freight industry in Kenya. The association was transformed into a company limited by guarantee in 2011. KTA is steered by a team of 9 directors and 7 staff members charged with day-to-day running of the Secretariat. The Secretariat is headed by the Chief Executive Officer.
