• The Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary is at a distance of 40km., south of Udaipur with an area of 52 sq.kms.
• The historical Jaisamand Lake is an integral part of the sanctuary which was build three centuries ago. It is one of the largest manmade fresh water lake in Asia. SALIENT FEATURES OF JAISAMAND:
• The Jaisamand Lake having a periphery of 88 sq. kms, is a mega water body surrounded by Aravali hills. It has several island & Possessing unique biodiversity.
• The sanctuary area used to be favorite hunting ground for erstwhile rulers of former Mewar state.
• It is one of the few sanctuaries in Rajasthan having several artistic palaces, ohdis(hunting towers) & Temples.
• This sanctuary has many preserved ‘sacred groves’ representing typical Aravallian Flora. This is a rich faunal diversity represented by sizeable numbers of chinkaras, leopards, wildboars, terrestrial birds, waterfowls and many other species. JEEP SAFARI:
• The jaisamand sanctuary provides the best opportunity for jeep safari owing to its gentle slope, dense forests, flowing streams and lake view. There is a good chance to see leaping chinkaras, prawling leopards, chattering birds and colourful butterflies. SUGGESTED “ONE DAY JUNGLE SAFARI”

• Wear light colored clothes and put on field shoes.
• Organized group tours should be accompanied by local guides designated by the forest department. DON’T’S:
• Don’t carry and leave polythene and plastic coverings or bags.
• Don’t tease and feed wild animals specially langurs.
• Taking bath, swimming and fishing is strictly prohibited in all the water bodies.
• Cooking, lighting fire, carrying arms & ammunition is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
• The adventure sport activities are conducted only on prior reservation by the forest dept. at your own risk.
• All tour packages are conducted with the consent of the forest dept. and may be cancelled at their discretion. NOTE:
