CII along with National Skill Development Corporation, would set up a Logistics Sector Skill council to address these issues through a structured skill development program with the following objectives.

1. Increase the Awareness
2. Create an Investing Environment
3. Formulate a Skill development Solution
4. To be the authoritative voice on Skill Development
Through this initiative, over 40 lakh l

ogistics workers are to be trained and certified by the SSC in the next ten years. We have identified 8 areas that come under this logistics Sector. They are:
1. Material Handling Equipment
2. Warehouse Operations
3. Cranes/ Heavy equipment
4. Container Stuffing/ Destuffing
5. Port Operations /CFS
6. Packaging
7. Trucking Operations
8. Express delivery services (Couriers)


We have identified 64 job roles coming under these areas. The broad activities and the deliverables are as follows:
• Develop national level curriculum for above mentioned sectors
• Develop labour market information systems (LMIS) and to facilitate establishing skill centers to meet the demand
• Affiliation of skill centers
• Facilitate developing Trainers and assessors for enabling skill centers to maintain quality
• Certifying the students passed out of the training centers.
• Create Awareness and build SSC brand value in Logistics sector.

Freight transport market in India is expected to be worth US$ 307.70 billion by 2020. Indian freight transport market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.35% by 2020.
Cold Storage Market in India 2015 – 2020 is expected to be worth US$ 8.57 billion by 2020. Indian cold storage market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.09% by 2020 driven by the growth in the organized retail, Indian fast food market, food processing industry and e-commerce sectors.

Auto and logistics jobs to grow by 2020 in India

Want to become training partners?

Affiliation with LSC

LSC invites Skill Training providers to get affiliated with us. The term Affiliation is used to define a process of establishing competence of any institution desiring of delivering vocational training from NVEQF/NVQF/NSQF level 1 to 10 which is based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) created by the LSC.

Any Education Body/ Vocational Training provider (VTP) can seek affiliation from Logistics Sector Skill Council in delivering the requisite elements of a NOS based vocational training.

The affiliation process conducted by LSCincludes evaluation of competence and availability of the desired infrastructure/ capability of creating the desired infrastructure matching the needs/ requirements of delivering NOS based training.

The alignment of LSC and a VTP/ Education Body through the process of Affiliation will focus on learning and development of the learners, so that they are easily employable in the sector. The process is also expected to encourage VTP/Education Body to pursue continual excellence, so that they are always in tune with the requirements of the Logistics sector. Thus the purpose of Affiliation is to maintain high standards of quality in delivering NOS based vocational training.

Some of the salient objectives of affiliation include:
• To assess VTP institutions/ Education bodies and their programs that meet defined quality standards set up the SSC in delivering NOS based training.
• To foster excellence in VTP institutions building effectiveness in delivering NOS or competency based training.
• To establish a framework for continuous improvement and provide an opportunity to benchmark with other institutions in India and abroad.
• To facilitate developing the professional competency of the learners in tune with the requirements of the sector.
