UPDATE: Thank you very much much to everyone who has liked, shared and commented on Mylo’s post. A huge thank you to those who have offered to take Mylo. We are currently pursuing the best available options and are hopeful of a positive outcome. We will update again at a later stage.

This is a very difficult post to write and we are in despair.

After being returned twice to CAW we have come to the end of the road with Mylo. Despite numerous appeals and postings we have not had one serious offer of a home.

Mylo is a four year old harrrier. Bred to run after a scent in a pack for hours through difficult terrain. He’s not bred for living in a suburban housing estate where it’s very difficult to meet his needs. He has lived with three families, his last two really tried hard but just couldn’t keep him.

So what do we do now? Some people will be outraged and we expect a huge backlash on social media. Some will say put him in kennels. For how long should we subject him to that? Some will say we should send him to Sweden. It’s unlikely they will have the ideal home waiting for him there and what happens if it doesn’t work out. Some will say try harder. We have tried to get help from harrier/ beagle rescue groups without success.

Ideally Mylo would live in a rural home with a large enclosed space where he could do lots of running. His owners would be interested in doing scent work classes at which he would excel. He needs a quiet home with experienced loving dog owners. Does such a home exist for Mylo?

Mylo is good with other dogs. He hasn’t lived with cats and is not suitable in a home with children. He can be nervous around strangers.
